Terms of reading

The terms on which these pages are read

These pages set out one measurement and the limits of that measurement. The reader decides alone what to do with it.

Information, not advice

Nothing on this site is investment advice, a recommendation or an offer. The figures describe what things cost at the hour they were read, not what a reader should do with them. A price is a measurement taken from named public sources and republished with the date and the hour it was read. It does not tell a reader to buy, to sell or to hold anything. That decision belongs to the reader alone, and the reader is responsible for their own decision. The site does not hold money, does not accept orders and does not act on a reader's behalf. It is an independent editorial desk, not a broker, not an exchange and not a licensed adviser. A reader who needs advice should seek it from someone licensed to give it in Ghana.

The subject of this site is one measurement. The price per pound is the Ghana Gold Board's approved purchase price for the latest window. The gram and ounce rows follow from the same LBMA price and cedi reference rate; the weight of a pound is not published and is worked out from the figures. The desk reads these sources, writes the figures down and publishes them with the date and the hour. It does not add a margin, does not round to a convenient number and does not guess at a missing figure. Where a source is silent, the table is silent. The reader can check every figure at its publisher because the sources are named under every table, with a link. That is the whole of the work.

The desk and corrections

Responsibility for these pages sits with the Gold Pound Ledger desk. The desk reads the sources, checks the figures against one another and publishes them. When a figure is wrong, the desk corrects it and dates the correction. The address on the contact page exists for that reason: a reader who sees a wrong figure should write to editor@goldpoundgh.pages.dev. The desk answers a correction, not a request for advice. It cannot tell a reader whether to buy or sell, what price to expect from a dealer or what will happen next. Those are not questions about the measurement; they are questions about a decision, and the decision is the reader's.

The desk does not give a human name because no single person is responsible. The desk is the function: it reads the sources, it republishes the figures and it answers a correction. A figure that is wrong is corrected and the correction is dated. A figure that is right is left alone. The desk does not promise that a price will hold, does not promise that a source will not change and does not promise that a reader will get the same price from a dealer. The measurement is a record of what was published, at a named hour, by a named source. That is all it can be.

Affiliate relationship

The site links to one broker, FxPro, through an affiliate link. If a reader opens an account there, the site is paid a commission. The reader pays nothing to this site and nothing extra at the broker. This is stated plainly, on this page and on the page about the publisher, because a reader deserves to know how the site earns. The affiliate relationship does not change the figures. The desk does not choose a price because of the broker, does not delay a correction because of the broker and does not hide a source because of the broker. The measurement stands on its own.

The broker's own site is operated by someone else, under its own terms and its own privacy policy. Following the link leaves this site. The desk does not run the broker's site, does not see the reader's account and does not take a fee from the reader. The commission is paid by the broker, not by the reader, and it is paid only if a reader opens an account there. A reader who does not want to use the broker can read the figures and ignore the link. The figures are not behind the link; they are on this site, with their sources.

What the site does not collect

The site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no comment form. It sets no cookie of its own, runs no analytics and stores nothing in the reader's browser. The desk does not know who reads these pages, does not build a profile of a reader and does not sell a reader's data. The pages are served by a hosting provider which, like any web host, keeps its own technical request logs. The site's publisher does not read a reader's personal data out of them. A reader who writes to the contact address gives the desk an email address, and the desk uses it only to answer that message.

The desk answers a correction because a wrong figure is a wrong measurement. It does not answer a request for advice because the desk is not an adviser. It does not answer a request for a forecast because the desk does not make forecasts. It does not answer a request for a dealer's price because the desk is not a dealer. The desk reads the sources, republishes the figures and corrects them when they are wrong. That is the whole of the work, and the reader decides alone what to do with it.
