About the desk

Who publishes Gold Pound Ledger

Gold Pound Ledger is an independent editorial desk. It measures one price and republishes it with the date and hour it was read, so a reader can check the figure at its source.

What this site measures

Gold Pound Ledger publishes one measurement: the price per pound of gold, taken from the Ghana Gold Board's approved purchase price for the latest window. The gram and ounce rows follow from the same LBMA price and cedi reference rate. The weight of a pound is not published anywhere, so the desk works it out from the figures it has. The result is a single number for a pound, with the smaller weights derived from it.

The measurement is republished with the date and the hour it was read. That matters because the price changes during the day. A reader who sees the figure later can tell how fresh it is. The desk does not guess a price or blend sources. It reads one named public source and shows the figure exactly as it was at that hour.

How the measurement is taken

The sources are named under every table, with a link, so a reader can check the figure at its publisher. The desk reads the Ghana Gold Board's approved purchase price for the latest window. It then takes the LBMA price and the cedi reference rate for the same window and works out the gram and ounce rows from those three figures. The pound weight is not published, so the desk derives it from the other rows.

The desk reads the sources at a set time each day and republishes the figure with that hour. If a source is late or missing, the desk does not invent a number. It waits for the next published figure and shows the hour it was actually read. Nothing on the page is a forecast or an estimate.

The desk and corrections

Responsibility sits with the publication's editorial desk: The Gold Pound Ledger desk. The desk reads the sources, checks the figures against the linked page, and answers mail sent to the address on the contact page. It does not have a named editor or reviewer. Where a person would be named, the desk is named instead, and the desk says what it does: who reads the sources, how often, and who answers a correction.

A correction reaches the desk through the contact address. If a figure is wrong, the desk corrects it and dates the correction. The desk cannot answer questions about what a reader should do with the price. It can only correct a measurement that was taken down wrongly or republished with the wrong hour. Any other question is outside what the desk is responsible for.

Affiliate disclosure

The site links to one broker, FxPro, through an affiliate link. If a reader opens an account at that broker after following the link, the site is paid a commission. The reader pays nothing to this site and nothing extra at the broker. The commission comes out of the broker's own revenue, not from the reader's account or trades.

Nothing on this site is investment advice, a recommendation or an offer. The figures describe what things cost, not what a reader should do. The broker's own site is operated by someone else, under its own terms and its own privacy policy. Following the link leaves this site, and the reader is then on the broker's site, not on Gold Pound Ledger.
